KAFOP implements Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) with an aim to involve target communities in identifying sites where open defecation occurs and taking initiative to completely eradicate it, including the faeces of children under the age of two. KAFOP uses the CLTS strategy to assist target households in fast obtaining basic sanitation coverage. This covers integrated solid waste and wastewater management as well as additional environmental sanitation measures, such as assisting households in building their own latrines. The CLTS strategy is put into practice by KAFOP combined with the sanitation marketing concept. Sanitation marketing and CLTS work together to improve the local sanitation supply chain and increase demand for sanitation goods and services
