About us

Kaana Foundation for outreach programs is a non-profit and non-partisan Organization that aims to support and empower young people, women and children afflicted by HIV and WASH related concerns contribute to SDG 6 and 3 and the universal UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets. We do so by promoting HIV prevention, testing, and treatment, enhancing access to healthcare services, addressing stigma and prejudice, and advocating for policies and programs that support the health and well-being of our target populations.

Based in Uganda, Kaana Foundation for Outreach Programs was founded in 2007 by 10 young and senior WASH+HIV Professionals with a common vision: to have a Community where all people live safely, free and dignified lives.

Our mission: Our initiatives are focused on coordinating our efforts to ensure that underserved demographic groups have access to safe water and sanitation, health care services in addition to their legal rights. Our strategies include raising public awareness through outreach programs and campaigns, influencing policymakers through legislative advocacy, and building strong coalitions with organizations that share our values through partnerships and collaborations that amplify our messages and give people a stronger sense of social responsibility.

In order for at least 1,000,000 people to take control of their HIV status, rely on clean water and sanitation, and live dignified lives, we aim to empower over 10,000 people living with HIV—including at least 5,000 women—to develop and implement technically sound and culturally appropriate sustainable solutions related to HIV+WASH in their communities by 2030.
